Switching to a cleaner, greener lifestyle has a number of benefits for both the local community and your own living situation. Not only are you contributing to a more sustainable Australia, but often it's possible to save money on your Caboolture real estate expenses.
However, more community facilities across the Morton Bay region are beginning to go green, which could serve as an incentive to reassess your own sustainability efforts in the coming months.
The Moreton Bay Regional council recently launched the Seven Energy Saver Groups, which aims to reduce energy consumption by 20 per cent throughout 23 different community facilities. This $3 million project aims to help raise awareness of cleaner living and try to encourage more people to take up these changes.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said some of the changes would include installing green technologies and energy efficient lights, as well as innovative shutdown systems for various different facilities throughout the region.
"New technology will intuitively adjust lighting and air conditioning systems to suit periods of peak demand and switch off automatically when the facilities aren't in use," said Mayor Sutherland in a 2 September statement.
Keep an eye out for these changes around your community in the near future.
