Recent building reforms in Queensland have improved the integrity of the local industry by minimising the risk of criminal activity. This may come as good news to those looking to buy or sell real estate in Caboolture.
According to a Master Builders Queensland statement, the reforms are designed to help give the authorities the power to remove a construction industry worker if they are part of a criminal organisation.
In other words, the reforms are likely to ensure those in positions of power and influence, such as contractor licence holders, individual licensees, and company nominees, are fit for the responsibility.
Master Builders President Derek Pingel said that although most workers will not be directly impacted, the reforms will make the local construction sector a better place overall.
"These changes will not impact the vast majority of hard working builders and trade contractors who make an honest living. However, these reforms will go a long way towards reducing the impact of any criminal organisation or participant in the industry," Mr Pingel said.
"We support the Newman Government's moves that we hope will strengthen our industry and protect the integrity of our trade."
