Master Builders Australia has called for reforms to the nation's construction industry, with chief executive officer Wilhelm Harnisch stating that the core of the issue was government impediments that held up the development of new houses.
This could be good news for anyone interested in building their own Caboolture real estate in the future, as reforms could make it easier to buy or build into the market. Mr Harnisch supported the recent Harper Review's call for governments – both state and local – to take action and remove any unnecessary red tape in the industry.
"Increasing housing supply is essential to prevent the intergenerational home ownership gap from widening. The availability of adequate affordable and appropriate housing is a fundamental pillar underpinning our social and economic wellbeing as a community," said Mr Harnisch in a 10 April statement.
He went on to say that the upcoming May budget would be a great time for the Treasurer to take a look at these suggestions, in order to keep home ownership as a realistic goal for Australians in the coming years.
