Homeowners are always looking for ways to save money on their bills, especially the big ones like water and power. Luckily for Queensland residents, these savings are just on the horizon, thanks to a new plan announced by the state government.
Over the next five years, the average Queensland family can expect to save $577 on their power bills due to the removal of the Solar Bonus Scheme from electricity prices. This is great news for residents of Caboolture real estate, giving people the chance to reinvest that money elsewhere in their lives.
Premier Campbell Newman revealed the $3.4billion Strong Choices Cost of Living Fund earlier this month, stating the government would no longer need to subsidise solar usage through power bills.
Treasurer Tim Nicholls stated the current subsidy made up six per cent of a typical household energy bill, which was forecast to grow if changes weren't made.
"Our Strong Choices Electricity Price Relief plan provides direct savings to Queenslanders, while also being fiscally and economically responsible," said Mr Nicholls in a 12 October statement.
Passing these savings on to the people of Queensland is a great bonus for individuals living across the state, providing families with a little extra money to put towards their own financial goals. These plans are expected to be implemented in 2015/16, offering a wonderful incentive for people to consider moving into Queensland over the coming months to take advantage of lower electricity bills.
