Caboolture has a rich locomotive history, which is due to be celebrated through a special locomotive-themed Instameet on 15 January.
Residents of property in Elimbah and visitors alike are encouraged to take part by using the hashtags #mbrc and #visitmoretonbay, which will connect them with each other. The @moretonbay tag can also be used on Instagram.
At 9:59 am, two trains are due to arrive into Caboolture station. These will be the BB18 ¼ 1079 – which was built in 1956 – , and the 1958, constructed in 1089. Nine wooden carriages will be on show in an event that's sure to draw in the crowds.
"What better way to celebrate 150 years of locomotive history in Queensland and the Moreton Bay Region than through the camera lenses of visitors and residents," said Moreton Bay Regional Council division three councillor Greg Chippendale.
The event has been made possible by a collaboration between Moreton Bay Regional Council and Queensland Rail, through which staff and volunteers have pulled out all the stops to bring the locomotives into town.
This is just one of the many events Caboolture locals have to look forward to this year, so if you're contemplating a move to the region, what better time to do it?
